Everything we need is in Jesus.

1…BEING A STRONG CHRISTIAN MEANS WE WILL FACE CONFLICT

Verse 1

There is a concept of local church

There is also an Invisible body of Christ around the world

Paul says he never met these people

But he’s praying for them

Lot of people can stop a lot of things

You can’t...

• Wear a cross pen
• Have a Bible on your desk
• Wearing you down

But they can’t stop you from praying

Paul struggled in prayer...WHY?
Because prayer is hard work!

George Mueller: "It is not enough to begin to pray, nor to pray alright; nor is it enough to continue for a time to pray; but we must patiently, believing, continue in prayer until we obtain an answer."

2…BEING A STRONG CHRISTIAN MEANS GROWING UP

Verses 2-3

Some words that are special here...

Encouraged

Discouragement is one of Satan’s most powerful tooks to keep you from growing.

Love

Stuck together

Glued together

Jesus loves me

·       Died on cross to demonstrate

·       I want to get to know Him

·       I love Him

I’m not coming to church because of guilt

I’m coming to church because I love Him

Riches

Riches means all of the blessings that are yours in Jesus

Assurance

In the full assurance…

In Jesus you can be assured

3…BEING A STRONG CHRISTIAN MEANS DETECTING TRAPS

Verse 4

False teachers are all around us daily.
They make lies sound like they’re not lies

Humanism

We can do it ourselves

Liberalism

Miracles didn’t really happen

Phariseeism

If I can get enough works I can go to heaven

4…BEING A STRONG CHRISTIAN IN THE LORD MEANS PROTECTING OTHERS

Paul doesn't harp on the things that were wrong

He encourages them

5… BEING A STRONG CHRISTIAN IN THE LORD MEANS MOVING FORWARD

Verse 6

No reverse

Walk in him

Start growing

Start moving

Verse 7…goes further

• Rooted
• Built up
• In Him
• Establish in the faith…speaks of consistency
• Abounding…speaks of over flow

Others get blessed from your overflow

How do I prove I'm a strong Believer?

By staying consistent thru the common places of life

         Not based on feeling…Based on the Word of God

SERVE THE LORD WITH GLADNESS

COLOSSIANS 01:24-29

Christ relates to the universe

         He is preeminent

         Total control

Christ relates to His church

         Head of the church

Christ relates to the individual Christian

         Every person is a minister of the Lord Jesus Christ

1…THE JOY OF MINSITRY

Verse 24

Apostle Paul found great joy in serving others

You won’t ever find joy in this life unless you are serving others

1)…Never find joy in places!

Paul said I, now

In jail, prison, horrible, confined space, in chains

         No water, no toilets

    2)…Never find joy in people

In the Lord’s presence, there is fullness of joy

If you’re depending on people, You will always be miserable

No one will ever measure up to your expectations

You’re expecting a person to do what only God can do

    3)…Not going to find joy in stuff

Alone, in a jail cell with nothing

Yet Paul says I have joy

It's because Paul lived with the consciousness

Of the Holy Spirit…wherever he was, there was God

Lost people can look at a Christian and wonder what they have that makes them different... 

It’s not what we have its who we have...Jesus Christ!

2…MINISTRY HAS DEMANDS

Time

Emotions

Finances

Mental concentration

Verse 24

The ministry of Christ…

Continues to

·       Sing

·       Share

·       Change lives

Churches are trying to dilute the cost of discipleship

Trying to attract bigger crowds

3…RESPONSIBILITY OF MINISTRY

Verse 25

God gives us

·       Time

·       gifts

·       Talents

·       Opportunities

·       Resources

We have a responsibility to do something for Jesus

There’s nothing done for humanity more important than what you will do thru the local New Testament Church in the name of Jesus Christ.

4…THE GOAL OF OUR MINSITRY

Ultimately

• Teaching
• Sharing
• Singing
•          Doing for the glory of God

Verse 26

Two mysteries have been revealed

Something that has been hidden in the past has now been revealed

Mystery of the Body of Christ, the Church

In Jesus

·       Be one

·       Walls fall

·       Family

·       Brothers and sister

Second mystery is in Verse 27

Christ in you the hope of glory.

The Bible says we are in Christ

Also, Christ in us

5…THE ACTIVITIES OF MINISTRY

Warning every man…warn the lost

·       Need to know Jesus Christ

·       God is just, you will answer one day

·       One day he’s going to judge all sin

·       When you die without Christ, you’ll be in hell

·       They sent themselves to hell

·       Rejected offer of free grace

Warn the saved

·       Hebrews 2, How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation

·       Uselessness

·       Mediocrity

·       Spiritual dud

·       Prayerlessness

Halfhearted serving Jesus…

The ones who succeed are the ones who don’t depend on themselves

But depend on God

Every ounce of energy

Verse 19

          1)…Christ is all you Need

In HIM…

Fullness in…Sum total

·       Power

·       Attributes

·       Wisdom

·       Spirit

·       Grace

·       Mercy

·       Justice

·       Holiness

·       Creativity

·       Deity

·       Eternalilty

The way that fullness is used there…

·       It does not mean these things were added to Jesus Christ

·       It means He has always had them from the beginning

He’s all of God

If you need…

·       Wisdom                  Jesus Christ

·       Knowledge              Jesus Christ

·       Guidance                Jesus Christ

·       Mercy                     Jesus Christ

·       Peace                     Jesus Christ

·       Power                     Jesus Christ

·       Strength                 Jesus Christ

·       Deliverance             Jesus Christ

·       What you need, you find in Christ

Many running around trying to have some kind of out of body experience because they want more…There is no more!

When you have Jesus…you have it all!

          2)…When we have Jesus, we have enough

Verse 19

All believers have a permanent home

All that God is…

Omnipotent             all powerful

Omniscient              all knowing

Omnipresent           everywhere

Immutable              never changes

Life

Love

Spirit

Thrice holy

Has no beginning

Has no end

2…JESUS CHRIST IS OUR RECONCILER

Verse 20

Reconcile means to re-establish a relationship

Jesus Christ reconciles…

·       Sinner

·       All things

What is exciting

The whole creation is under the curse

The whole creation is going to be reconciled

·       You don’t have to stay like you are

·       You don’t have to be like you once were

·       You don’t have to be a slave to sin

·       You don’t have to be controlled by sin

·       Live under the load of guilt

·       Miserable in cesspool of human misery

Verse 22

3…JESUS CHRIST IS OUR SANCTIFICATION

When you got saved…

He didn’t save you to lay down in the ditch full of mud

Only way to be

        Holy

        Blameless

                Is thru Jesus

God is

·       Molding

·       Shaping

·       Squeezing out some stuff

THESE TOOLS WILL HELP YOUR SANCTIFICATION

          Study of the Word

Word of God in the hands of the Spirit of Giod

          Thru our service to the body of Christ

No one can be properly sanctified unless they’re attached

        To a church

          Situations of our life

·       Problem

·       Illness                    drove you to the sufficiency of Christ

·       Mean woman          drove you to the sufficiency of Christ

·       Baptist people         drove you to the sufficiency of Christ

4…JESUS CHRIST IS OUR MASTER

Verse 23

Jesus saved our soul

We have a responsibility to continue in the faith

What shake people today?

·       False teaching

·       Worldliness

·       Lust

·       Greed

·       Ease and comfort

·       Pride

·       Power

·       Family

·       Friends

·       Job
